Quantum computers will break encryption. Companies have at most ten years to prepare, says an expert from axelum.
Ethical hacker and cybersecurity architect Petr Tuček from Axelum appeared in the Business Club podcast on E15, openly discussing how quantum computers will soon change the rules of the game in cybersecurity.
Quantum computers currently exist mostly in laboratories. But within a few years, they will become a reality that could completely disrupt current encryption methods. Data we consider secure today will become vulnerable.
“Attackers are collecting data now and waiting for the moment when they can decrypt it. That moment could come in just a few years”
warns Tuček.
The solution? Post-quantum cryptography – new encryption standards designed to withstand the computational power of quantum machines. According to Tuček, companies and institutions should start preparing now.
